If you have feedback for TechNet Subscriber Support, contact tnmff microsoft. I just went through this process and it was not fruitful. After contacting Microsoft support, they told me that for Windows 10 Enterprise related issues, you have to contact commercial support.
I am just wondering how to get Windows 10 IOT Enterprise evaluation copy so I can see it will work in our application.
If it does, we will simply purchase this and pay royalties as well for each unit deployed in the field. We want the IOT version in case of sudden power loss. My understanding is that the IOT version does not require orderly shutdown.
A version without the word IOT is susceptible to bricking if sudden power loss occurs. We absolutely want the IOT version to protect against bricking the industrial unit in case of sudden power loss.
Hello all. I suddenly remembered why this is such a hassle and why Microsoft probably doesn’t just provide links to IOT installations.
Here is why based on my past experiences :. The Windows IOT installations are meant for embedded systems with constrained resources. This is also true for the old Windows Mobile installations, and before that, Windows CE installations. These type of installations are quite a bit different than the “non-IOT” installations ie. If someone is not following an exact procedure documented on-line corresponding to the exact hardware they are using when installing to an IOT platform, the result may be a “bricked” non-functional system because of a mismatch in device drivers.
So my recommendation is that if you have a particular platform that you are trying to install a Windows IOT OS on to, to contact the manufacturer of the platform to see if they have the installer for you. The process for developing a BSP can sometimes be quite a labyrinth and time crunch.
