That means there are no loose wires. All the lights on it are active. The paper should not be stuck or jammed. These are some of the most common reasons why Word print is not working or not responding. That is also a good time to clean the whole thing as dust or dead insects might accumulate over time.

The dead insect incident happened with my friend. Ruined some of the papers too. Is your printer showing as offline? Microsoft has a guide to change the printer’s status from offline to online. Check the router and Wi-Fi connection to make sure everything is working as it should. Also, check the USB cables to ensure that is working properly. If you are using a wireless printer, is it in range?

Check and double-check everything before trying to print that Word document again. I am not talking about Word here. You should try uninstalling the printer once and reinstall it to see it fixes the Microsoft Word print not working or responding error. Right-click on your printer that appears in the heading Printer, and select Remove device.

Wait a few minutes until it disappears. Click on Add a printer at the top to re-add it. Windows should be able to recognize the printer if it is on and connected properly. I again troubleshoot to send a report to Microsoft. Then I troubleshoot again to be an administrator for using Word. I can print fine as an administrator but I want the problem solved for good so I don’t have to run word as an administrator.

What options are there to fix this? Should I go back to Windows 8. Do I need to upgrade Office? I need to be able print documents for school. This thread is locked. Thanks for your feedback.

I am having the same problem. Installed the windows Both powerpoint and excel were exhibiting similar problems slow startup then anytime the file menu or printing was selected the app would hang and I would have to force quit it.

Powerpoint seems to have improved but Excel has not. My windows update seems to be hung up as well. Eventually it times out and presents a grey “Retry” button but it takes a long time.

I am using Office and the version of Powerpoint I am using is Another odd thing is that excel and powerpoint cannot stay signed in to a Microsoft Account. Even after I open them, enter valid account info and shut down properly — the next time the app is launched it still can’t access the microsoft account. Everything worked and none of these issues arose during daily use of the applications. After investigating further it seems my printer settings are royally screwed up.

I cannot get the print devices to show up in ANY application excel, powerpoint, chrome, explorer, etc. The blue text below “Related Settings” in the window: “Devices and Printers” won’t do anything either. I can go into the device manager and from there navigate to Print Queues and then to Root Print Queue.

When I click that, nothing happens. Almost like the registry of the printers and print queue are corrupted. Microsoft Word not responding usually appears either as an error message or as a complete freeze of the Word user interface.

When you experience this glitch, either close the program or wait for the program to respond. You’ll most often encounter a “Microsoft Word is not responding” message for one of several reasons:. Sometimes the answer is as simple as restarting the computer. If this approach doesn’t resolve the problem, disabling add-ins and possibly repairing the program are the best courses of action.

Start Word in Safe Mode. Loading the application without templates and add-ins allows you to see if the program works as it should or if it is corrupted. Disable add-ins.

If “Word not responding” is not an error in Safe Mode , an incompatible add-in is a likely culprit. If the “Word not responding” error message no longer appears, enable each add-in one at a time, and restart Word after each one to determine which one caused the problem. Repair the document. If the error appears when you open or save a specific Word file, that document might be corrupted. Use a tool within Word to fix it. Repair Word.
